Make ‘n’ Cake!
Monday, June 14th, 2010I must say I very much enjoyed my first Make ‘n’ Cake meeting (to find out what this is, do a Google search on the UK “Stitch ‘n’ bitch” initiative – we decided on a more mild-mannered name!) Thank you to George for hosting it. We had a lovely time involving tea, lemon drizzle cake (YUM!), chocolate buttons and craft, whilst chattering about goodness knows what.
Here’s to the next session!
The BT saga continues…
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010You thought you’d heard the last of this now didn’t you? I hoped that I had too…. Sadly not. We settled upon an agreement with an Amy Rankin (complaints team) that all our charges up until March would be wiped and we would receive 6 months free line rental to compensate us for lost working hours. Big deal. Never mind, it was something.
Imagine my frustration when I then proceeded to get a barrage of bills and none of them for the right amounts (well, we shouldn’t have received any!!) It was all topped off when this week I received one bill for £289, one for £245 and one for £14.45. This was followed by a letter saying that if we didn’t pay our outstanding balance of £33, we would be cut off imminently!! It is not my nature to list the expletives running through my head, but needless to say, I am not impressed, to put it mildly.
I telephoned BT and all they could say was “Oh yes I can see that there is an open case here, I will suspend the bills for you”. Damned right you will, how about telling me what they are for?? They are STILL trying to charge us an early termination fee and a re-connection fee even though these should long since have been cancelled. The £14.45 is a random month of line rental, which we should not be paying. The £33? Your guess is as good as mine, but it could leave me without a telephone or broadband connection YET AGAIN.
I telephoned 02 home phone and set up an account. I have 10 days to persuade BT that we are not in contract with them (they refused to send us one as apparently we made a verbal contract by ordering the line… Which they cut off and registered to the wrong address…..) and ‘resolve the disputes’. Wish me luck people.
