….Waiting for results….  Any time from this week – 6th July……. Tenterhooks is a funny word don’t you think?

Heart attack FAIL

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Tim sent me this picture from Bristol Temple Meads station and it is one of the funniest/most unfortunate things I have seen in ages!!

“Sorry for any inconvenience”?????  Such as death, for example?? Haha.  So when I am having a heart attack and notice the sign as I reach for the de-fib (well, kind of – I expect someone else will!) I shall remind myself to get up and take a short hike to platform 7 because someone forgot the Duracell and the pink bunny finally stopped drumming!!  Classic lack of punctuation also….

I think that “KNOCKOUT LEAFLETS” was possibly a bit generous…. By the time this fell upon my doormat, it looked as though it had been used to knock someone out!!  Not tempted I’m afraid….

How cool is that?

What would you give?

When a needle falls into a deep well, many people will look into the well,
but few will be ready to go down after it.
African Proverb

I was talking to a friend recently who was telling me about something they wrote down in a book, which involved giving up everything for their children and it led to a conversation about what true love was about.  Indeed, this statement was very much akin to the famous Bible verse:

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” – John 5:13

People don’t seem to think that they actually have to do this.  Perhaps they have romantic notions of jumping in front of a gun to save a loved one, in the vain hope that it will never happen, but this is not the full extent of the verse.  Often, Bible verses have a dual meaning and one of those meanings usually refers to Jesus.  Jesus laid down his life for us quite literally and we are privileged to be able to call Him our friend.  He died so that we could live instead.

The duality refers to love by the setting aside of self for the benefit of others.  How often do we run away from a friend who is going through a difficult time because it causes us to expend great effort and achieve little reward?  How often do we point the finger at someone whose situation we don’t approve of or who is not doing something as we would, because it is easier to cut them off than to love them as God would?  How often do relationships cool because we lose the willingness to lay down our lives for those whom we love?

The proverb at the top is true.  Sad, isn’t it?

hmmm…

NOT cool….

DEFINITELY not cool.  Waking up at 5am every morning with a blocked nose, itchy eyes, itchy inner ears and an itchy dry throat.  Ow!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Green!

On Saturday, Stu and Judith tied the knot.  I have yet to meet this mysterious knot…  I wonder where it is based?!  A lot of people seem to tie it.  Anyway, a lovely service and a brilliant day.  The evening do was a really good laugh, with a fantastic band made up of one family.  Congratulations Mr & Mrs Green, all the best for the future.

Lots to report!

Well…. I shall start with the degree show.  Friday was a great night, loads of visitors to the show and, despite the hundreds of degrees in temperature (and substance!), a lovely time was had by all…

Getting ready….
